Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak said the volume of Cambodian products in regional and global markets remains limited compared to that of other countries. He also encouraged producers and traders to increase their innovation and be compliant with the principle of “honesty to commerce” to ensure high quality and safe products.
Sorasak was visiting the Khmer Product Fair held in Siem Reap town on February 24. He spoke highly of the fair, saying it is an important part of developing commerce in the Kingdom and a voice to remind Cambodians to support local products.
“The organization of the 7th Khmer Product Fair helps strengthen our local production chains and producers gain knowledge and experience to upgrade and expand their products and services to reach new markets,” he said.
Although the volume of goods to export markets is still limited, Sarasak said Cambodian products are increasing in volume and are high quality and attractive and thus have earned the trust of consumers.
He encouraged all people to promote and support local products as the ministry is diversifying markets with free trade agreements with China, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, and through Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), among other mechansims, to make the market for Cambodia products, services and investments grow larger.
