The upcoming inaugural Cambodian Digital Trade Forum and Online Expo in Phnom Penh aims to showcase Cambodia’s digital trade capabilities and elevate locally-made products to the global market, officials said.
As Cambodia stands on the edge of a digital transformation, traditional trade practices are evolving to meet the demands of a globalized, tech-driven market. The Cambodian government has shown its commitment to this shift, with initiatives like the e-commerce strategy and ongoing efforts to draft a Digital Trade Policy, paving the way for sustainable economic growth through e-commerce.
The four-day event at Borey Peng Huoth Boeung Snor, titled the ‘1st Cambodian Digital Trade Forum & Online Expo,’ is scheduled for December 13-16 and is set to be a landmark occasion for Cambodia’s digital trade sector. Prime Minister Hun Manet is expected to preside over the opening ceremony.
On October 25, the Ministry of Commerce organized a meeting with small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners to discuss the benefits of participating in the upcoming event. Chea Ratha, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, emphasised that the event, themed ‘From Cambodian Made to Global Trade,’ will showcase Cambodia’s growing role in the digital economy and support the expansion of the country’s digital trade sector.
The campaign aims to elevate Cambodian products on the global stage by leveraging e-commerce platforms such as CambodiaTrade.com and other online marketplaces to promote local goods internationally. It will culminate in an online expo, which will serve as both a celebration of Cambodia’s cultural heritage and a platform for digital trade.
